Child abuse & Racism

Here is a blog posted today by Catherine McCall MS.,LMFT, mentioning a story I told on "Ask Dr. Annie Abram" Citizen Blog Talk Radio several days ago. While we often discuss "child abuse" in general, we all too rarely include the racism children of color are exposed to and the impact these abuses in the classroom and elsewhere exact upon them. Or, for that matter, the white children who are witnesses to racism on their friends, how it effects them and their relationships. Why is that? We can guess & have a great deal more to do about it

Sad news of Louis Reyes Rivera's passing ...

Kaolin and the staff of "Talking About Race ..." are very sorry to have heard of the passing of Louis Reyes Rivera, on March 3, 2012. Louis was a fan of Kaolin's work and had her on his talk show WBAI 90.7 FM, NYC. in Dec. of 2009. It was a very compelling interview. To Mr. Rivera's family and friends we extend out condolences. RIP.
